I am an avid gardener, cook and baker. I love to knit and/or crochet but only in the winter. I sew when I have time which has not been at all lately due to the newest arrival in our house, my daughter Anna. I love to read mostly the classics and some contemporary authors. I love nature and to be outdoors, going for hikes with my husband, swimming and riding bikes… I also love anything crafty but only if it’s somewhat functional. I would like to start making art for the sake of making art. I like to write poetry, solve difficult math problems and talk about philosophy. I majored in Mathematics and minored in Literature and Philosophy in college. I believe that all disciplines in life are linked and there is no need to limit ones self to one set mind-frame. Live life to its fullest and be in the moment. I believe in God and want to share my light with others in my life. I hope I can with this blog.

I am jealous about your garden. the heat here killed everything. Do you know what grows in a desert?
Have fun with your gardening. Grow some vines and your dad and I will come see you at harvest time on our way to Amsterdam.
Love you guys. Look forward to seeing you soon.

Hey Uncle Mark! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Sorry to hear about your garden drying up this year. I always envy your San Marzano tomatoes when you grow them. Too bad we missed everyone on the fourth this year. Maybe next year… I really do hope you and my dad would come for a visit. That would be great! Let me know if you really want to plan a trip out this way as we will be here for another year most likely. Talk to you soon!

I love your blog, and the snails!
x love from a fellow forager-gardener.

Thanks for your lovely comment Louisa! It is always great to hear from other forager-gardeners. I unfortunately, due to the slugs, may be doing a bit more foraging this year than gardening but it’s all good and I love getting my food from nature any way that I can. I hope you will stop back again soon. Thanks again for the positive feedback.
Best regards,
Laura

I am currently living near Cologne, Germany where my husband is from. I’m originally from upstate New York (where most of my family lives) but I lived in Rhode Island for 10 years when I went there for grad school and then was working there as a math teacher. The photo of me was taken on Block Island which is off the southern tip of RI.

I made your tomato bulgur soup and blueberry peach galette. Mine didn’t come out so great, I think bcs I used quinoa vs bulgur. The galette was beautiful.
Thank you, what is your name? Lvaletutto?

Jill, I’m sorry to hear that the soup didn’t work out. Maybe the quinoa soaked up too much of the liquid? I really like bulgur because it is hearty but not too starchy. Let me know what went wrong with yours and maybe I can help you fix it. My name is Laura btw 😉
